Hello, My name is Grace O'nions, and welcome to my virtual world of nursing and healthcare promotion. As a child I grew up thinking that hospitals were only for grown up people, and very sick children. This notion came about because my siblings and I were never allowed to visit hospitals at all. The closest that I had ever been, as a child to a hospital, was a doctor's office. Whilst I am grateful for growing up as a healthy child and adult, I simultaneously developed this insatiable curiosity for healthcare facilities. I guess, it was the shroud of mystery that was created around hospitals, that fueled my desire to work in one. I have also come to learn that my curiosity is not unique. Everyone is interested in how their body functions, and its preservation. So why would I not want to know more about an institution that is solely dedicated to preserving my life?. I then began to write notes on some quirky experiences I had as a student and after I became qualified. My continuous writings in my journal were not in vain. Thankfully those notes finally resulted in the manifestation of my book, " Its Your Butt....Save it" I have to say that I am thankful. for the privileged opportunity to have been trained and worked at Parkland Hospital ER in Dallas Texas, ranked one of the best emergency department in the world after John Hopkins Hospital. It is also so humbling to know that this is the same Emergency Department that treated President John F. Kennedy at his last hour, shortly after being shot. My journey and incredible experiences there, was the spark plug of my writings. I am also obliged to say "thank you", for the tremendous encouragement that I have received from my close friends and family. During the course of my writings.

"Its Your Butt....Save It" is a matter of fact book that I have compiled with health information that every human being needs to know. I try to ask and answer the vital unknown questions and answers, that most health professionals do not have the time to explain to you. I have learned in my experience that there is a lack of health information in all sectors of the public in general. Important facts such as what to do if you have no health insurance, foods that are potentially fatal poisons to your body. Advice that nurses wish they could tell you but won't, for fear of repercussions. Other facts included: (i) How to wisely choose a physician of your choice (ii) How safe drinking water can be a danger to some people(iii) administrative technical details about your rights and the powerful say you have in directing the best healthcare for yourself. And how understanding your rights could save you thousands of dollars. Whilst I have been careful not to bore you with too much medical jargon, I have added some shocking health facts and a little humor to every lesson taught. My wish is that everyone gains a safe, in depth level of knowledge, on how to preserve their " wonderfully and fearfully made bodies". Increasing your power of knowledge is the greatest gift that you can give yourself. So lets get to the grind by starting somewhere.
